Role Purpose

Flexible benefits are a cornerstone of the client proposition offered by the Broadstone Employee Benefits Consulting (EBC) division, delivered to Broadstone clients via the ‘Flexcel’ flexible benefits platform.

Reporting to the Head of Flexible Benefits, the Flexible Benefits Consultant is primarily responsible for the retention and growth of a pre-existing book of platform clients alongside project management of new client take-ons.  

The Senior Flexible Benefits Consultant will also be expected to contribute to the development of our flexible benefits strategy considering the technology we offer and the wider processes that we follow.

Key Accountabilities

The role of a Senior Flexible Benefits Consultant will include:

  • The provision of high-quality strategic consultancy to retain and grow a pre-existing client bank.
  • Support the Business Development team in the acquisition of new clients, including the preparation of RFP tender responses, where required.
  • Project management of new client platform builds and existing client platform renewals.
  • Assisting the team to ensure existing client platforms run smoothly on a day-to-day basis, including answering, and taking ownership of technical client queries, through to resolution.
  • Keeping full and complete records of work undertaken and client actions agreed.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including clients, consultants, administrators, software suppliers and benefit providers.
  • Working with the team and external stakeholders to create collateral to provide:
    • Initial promotion of the platform (internally and externally)
    • Better support for existing clients
    • Improved sales/implementation/renewal processes
  • Providing strategic support to the Head of Flexible Benefits to continuously develop Broadstone’s flexible benefits offering.
  • Carrying out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit as may be reasonably required by the Company and for the purposes of personal development.
  • Ensuring all work is delivered to agreed timescales and to agreed specifications.

Technical Knowledge and Professional Qualifications

Technical

  • Computer literacy including experience of working with confidential data
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • The ability to quickly learn new IT skills and software

General

In addition to the above technical proficiencies any new member of our team would be expected to possess:

  • A demonstrable track record of working in a similar role.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and also under own initiative.
  • Exceptional and demonstrable planning and organisation skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Attention to detail when working with large data files, creating reports or analysis.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and effective inter-personal skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with, and manage expectations of, multiple stakeholders while working under pressure to deliver projects to agreed deadlines.

  • Achieve a good standard of ethical behaviour, i.e. do the right thing at all times.
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards.
  • Comply with the FCA’s requirements in relation to the Senior Managers & Certification Regime, Treating Customers Fairly and the new Consumer Duty.
